Hi!![]()
I’m Chris and have been climbing for more than 12 years now. Climbing’s great fun. It gives you lots of opportunity to travel around the rocky planet and meet familiar faces at the last bushiest place in the world. I’ve been to most of the best places in Europe, and it’s usually the best times to really savour the food you cook in the evenings. No fun to cook when you’re working 9 to 5. No time, no feelings. Brains exhausted and empty. Holidays are great for this. Foreign country, good food, differant spices, ambience is everything…… and holidays are usually too short.
Nevertheless, after pumping out your arms – you’re tired, you’re holding a beer in your hand…and you’re extremely hungry. You want food…warm, tasty and FAST!
I love cooking outdoors. You use basic simple herbs you may find around the region you’re in, salt, pepper and hey presto…dinner’s ready! I don’t have an oven – just a MSR petrol cooker and my favourite pan. It’s always a wonder what creations appear – so fast and easy. Who has more ideas?
Share this page with me with your personal cooking experiences too, or add creative alternatives to the recipes.

Great idea for a blog- we aren’t climbers, but love camping and always try to have something great whether cooking over a campfire or using a propane stive (cheating, I know for a real backpacker/climber)! I’ll be checking back!
